For the fourth-generation model, Proton claims it has invested over 391 thousand man-hours in developing the all-new Proton Saga, culminating in 337 newly developed parts. The most obvious changes can be seen outside, where the all-new Proton Saga features a new design the company calls “Next-gen Style”.
This new design language features new projector LED headlights with integrated daytime-running lights, with a new sleeker housing that’s integrated into the mesh-pattern front grille – the latter supposedly inspired by a ‘Sulaman Songket’ pattern. When paired with the headlights, the nation brand’s Ethereal Bow trim makes the new Proton Saga appear to have an end-to-end front grille.
Towards the rear, the Proton Saga features a set of new LED taillights, with a ‘PROTON’ wordmark trim across the boot lid. The range-topping Premium variant adds an LED light strip for a full-width taillight design.

Like the exterior, the interior of the all-new Proton Saga has been thoroughly revised. The cabin now features a new 7-inch TFT digital gauge cluster. On the Executive and Premium variants, this is paired with a new infotainment system, creating a 16-inch integrated dual-screen display that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Other design highlights in the cabin of the all-new 2025 Proton Saga include the Congkak air vents, a 3D dashboard pattern inspired by the Pantai Waves motif, and a new gear shift lever with illuminated indicators on the knob.

Under the hood, the previous 1.3-litre engine is now replaced by a new “iGT” 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder unit that produces 120 hp and 150 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with two different transmission options, depending on the variant. The Standard and Executive variants receive a four-speed automatic gearbox (4AT), while the range-topping Premium variant is equipped with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).
Proton states the new powertrain is 14.04% more fuel efficient than before in the CVT configuration, returning a fuel consumption rating as low as 4.9 L/100 km (MDC test cycle), with 4AT variants coming in at 5.1 L/100 km.
t’s also built on a new “Advanced Modular Architecture” (AMA) platform, although in practice it is a continued redevelopment of the Saga’s existing architecture, which can trace its roots back to the Proton Savvy.
Nevertheless, it features the new Reinforced Safety Structures (RESS) in its construction, which promises a more rigid passenger cell for enhanced safety. The Standard variant gets just two airbags, while the range-topping Premium is equipped with six airbags and a suite of basic ADAS features, which includes:
